Position: Diablo Valley College Library is seeking a Library Assistant I, II or Senior Library Assistant in the Acquisition & Technical Services Department.

Library Assistant I: Range 46 $2,777- $3,383 /monthly
Library Assistant II: Range 48 $2,918-$3,555 /monthly
Senior Library Assistant: Range 52, $3,221-3,923 /monthly
ABOUT THE LIBRARY
The Diablo Valley College Library in Pleasant Hill, California provides a student-centered learning environment with quality information resources, services and instruction. The library maintains a rich array of print and online resources including 87,000 books, 14,300 e-books, and 36 electronic databases containing the full-text of over 10,000 journals. Staff uses the Innovative Interfaces, Inc., an integrated library system to order, receive, catalog and manage collections and patron usage.
In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications of one of the 3 job classes, the ideal candidate will possess the following:
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience ordering/receiving library materials and managing financial records using an integrated library system.
- Demonstrated experience using Innovative Interfaces, Inc. library system for acquisitions, serials and/or circulation functions.
- Familiarity with copy cataloging of books, serials, audiovisual and online materials.
- Experience handling library income collection, reconciliation, deposits, and bookkeeping
- Demonstrated recent experience using MS Word and Excel programs for library applications.
- Demonstrated experience in maintaining cooperative work and vendor relationships.
- Recent experience in library circulation services.
- Experience in developing and maintaining library procedures manual.
- Demonstrated work or community experience that reflects an awareness of racial, ethnic, gender, disabled and cultural diversity.
- Experience with creating web pages.

- Describe your experience hiring, training and scheduling library staff, especially library student assistants or volunteers.
- Describe your regular use personal computers in a work setting, in particular your use of Word, Excel, library catalogs, databases and the Internet.

EMPLOYEE BENEFITS: Available options are health, dental, vision, life and long-term disability insurance, and employee assistance program. Required membership in Public Employees Retirement System; employee contributing 7% of gross pay plus Social Security.
AGENCY SHOP REQUIREMENTS: This position is within a collective bargaining unit. Employees are required to join the Union or pay an equivalent service fee. There is a one-time initiation fee of $45 and monthly contributions of 1% of gross pay + $1.
